MILAN FASHION WEEK SO FAR......JUST OK....NOTHING EXTRAORDINARY...........

The Milan designers that have shown their collections so far for Fall 2010 have been alright, slighly uptight, really nothing to write home about.....a few cute pieces from Bottega Veneta, Alberta Feretti, and Antonio Marras.....The best collection I've seen so far has been from D&G...vintage apres ski inspired intarsia and fairisle knitted pieces that include onsies, shorts, cardigans, dresses and bustier tops...these are mixed back with sheer skirts and dresses in florals, dots and lace.....fur boots, chunky knit scarves and skinny leather belts tie it all together.......it's young, fun and makes me want to go snowboarding and sip hot coco laced with peppermint schnapps by the fire at my chalet in the Alps!.......

SPRING BAGS FROM JEROME DREYFUSS....OF COURSE WE LOVE THEM.....

He's only married to one of my favorite designers..... Isabel Marant.....His bags are made of soft slouchy leather, have tons of hidden details and are classic enough to carry for many seasons.......such a great investment! Right now you can buy them on La Garconne...but coming soon to Soho...his store will open next to Isabel's on the corner of Broome & Greene......In the meantime, check out his website...Jerome Dreyfuss........and the funny names he has for his bags.....Billy, Bob, Larry, Max, etc...

FORGOT ONE.....BURBERRY PRORSUM.....HE USED TO SHOW IN MILAN...I DIDN'T GET THE MEMO.....

I thought Christopher Bailey showed Burberry Prorsum during Milan fashion week....not London...don't when that changed......oops!..... I thought his collection was made up of beautifully tailored military jackets, sherpa lined aviator inspired outerwear, reed thin pants & body con dresses made up of lace and satin....All I want to wear right now is vintage military in olive or navy....and a fuzzy sheepskin coat!............

LONDON PULLED IT OUT IN THE END WITH A FEW STUNNERS.....

I thought it was going to be a wash...but London ended on a high note..........Julien MacDonald came through with some amazing dresses mixed with lace & chiffon that were offset with skinny military pants, shearling jackets and chunky sweater knits.........Matthew Williamson also showed an amazing collection of metallic draped dresses and a few stunning tops with 3-D details.......Margaret Howell.....always classic and wearable....with shirt dresses worn under staple sweaters, military inspired coats in coated cotton, double breasted shearling outerwear, and a classic camel toggle........I love how everything is belted at the waist & the splash of red! Brilliant x........

LONDON FASHION WEEK, FALL 2010...SO FAR...NOT SO MUCH.....

The Fall 2010 shows from London have been very disappointing as of yet.....or maybe just not my style....too 80's, too frumpy or too wacky....at least there were a few worth mentioning.....Topshop Unique came through with a show that looked a bit like....Little Red Riding Hood goes military.....shades of olive off set with shearling, handknit cable socks and leggings and a few feminine ruffled dresses in the mix.....John Rocha is the other show worth mentioning.....fantastic layers of brocade, lace, felted wool and leather pieced together to create one of a kind garments that sat along vintage pink chiffon ruffle dresses with raw edge fur coats...beautiful.........
